Mayor Eric Adams Speaks about Rudy Giuliani’s Alleged Slap…
It is being reported that former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani was allegedly physically assaulted on Sunday, June 24th. This incident has pitted the current mayor against the previous mayor.
According to the current mayor Eric Adams, Giuliani should be investigated for what occurred after the incident.
Nick Caloway of CBS2 reported on Tuesday, June 28th that Mayor Adams has asked the police commissioner to look into the assault.
Adams said, “I believe the district attorney is looking into the wrong individual.”
At a press briefing on Tuesday, Adams told the media that the district attorney should investigate Giuliani for reporting a false crime.
78-year-old Giuliani said that while campaigning for his son Andrew Giuliani, who was running for governor on the Republican ballot, he was assaulted at a ShopRite in Staten Island.
A witness who was standing close to the former mayor said, “He hit him so hard that I felt it. That’s how bad it was.”
39-year-old Daniel Gill, an employee at the supermarket where this incident occurred, was detained as a result of the claim.
According to a criminal complaint raised in this incident, Giuliani was struck by a supermarket employee over the weekend and had sustained “redness, swelling, and severe discomfort to the back and left side of his body.”
“About a third of the way through, I got hit on the back. As if a boulder hit me. It knocked me forward a step or two. He is lucky that he didn’t knock me down and I hit my skull and die or got a concussion or got seriously injured,” explained the former mayor.

Later on, the New York Post was able to obtain video of the incident, in which the man struck Giuliani in the back before cursing at him.
Eventually, the charges against Gill were reduced from felonies to misdemeanor assault, threatening, and harassment.
In regards to the alleged assault, Mayor Adams said, “What if we didn’t have the video? This person would have been accused with a serious crime, when all he did was pat the guy on the back. He’s a former mayor. I think it’s irresponsible for a former mayor.”
Giuliani retaliated saying, “Mayor Adams is an idiot because I didn’t file a report. Can you imagine that? He wants to prosecute me for filing a false report I didn’t file. His police department filed the report.”
He continued, “It was painful all night. It was hard to sleep. I’m not a complainer and I don’t feel pain very strongly, but I’m telling you it was a very, very, very heavy shot.”
According to Giuliani, who spoke to CBS2, the store employee was upset over the Supreme Court’s decision to reverse Roe v. Wade.
Giuliani told the media that he intends to visit a doctor for his aching back.
Gill’s attorney has stated that he is eager to correct the record.
