On Monday, February 20th, Dr. Shola Mos-Shogbamimu, a British-born Black woman of Nigerian descent, publicized death threats she and her family had received from English Neo-Nazi organization, National Action London.
Hand Delivered Mail
“I have received ‘a serious threat from National Action London’ notifying me of their ‘intention to kill’ me & my family. They name my husband & home address. They don’t consider killing me ‘murder’ they call it an ‘execution’. This letter was through my front door. This is Britain,” she wrote on Twitter, sharing an image of the letter she received.
“I have also been receiving calls on my mobile & as soon as I pick up, the caller drops. Ignored but it happened quite a number of times recently that I felt irked enough to mention it to my husband that it was weird/annoying but I didn’t dwell on it. I get messages like this a lot,” she wrote in another tweet, sharing a photo of a message filled with hateful racist language.
Frightening Death Threats
“This is National Action London Cell – We are watching you. Shola, you are a constant troublemaker and liar who appears on television frequently. You make a shabby living from criticizing and race grifting against ethnic white europeans and our culture,” the letter read.
“You are a dreg of the multicultural society….We are watching you. This is a serious notice from National Action London. We are notifying you of our intention to kill you and your family,” the letter continued.
“We suggest you leave the UK ASAP, this is the only way that you can avoid what is coming to you. You need to hide because your details have been circulated to others on the internet, violent nationalist activists, blackshirts, and others. It is only a matter of time Adeshola before you receive your punishment, your execution,” the letter concluded. The letter is filled with graphic, hateful and horrifying language.
Prominent Voice
Dr. Mos-Shogbamimu is an author, lawyer, political, women’s rights activist. She regularly appears on major news channels and TV shows commenting on political and cultural matters.
She is vocal and opinionated in her activism, speaking directly to racism, white supremacy, and counterproductive politics. Mos-Shogbamimu told the UK’s The Independent that she had always received threats but it had intensified after she appeared on Sky News commenting on Tyre Nichol’s death. “It’s unsettling to have my address, children, and husband targeted,” she said.
A Terrorist Organization
National Action was established in 2013. It was declared a terrorist organization and banned in 2016. However, reports indicate that while the organization was banned nationally, it remains active, having split into several regional factions, including National Action London who is responsible for the death threats to Dr. Mos-Shogbamimu and her family. The matter regarding the death threats has been reported to the police.
