Crime is rampant in New York City. Every day, there is breaking news covering incidents of New Yorkers, young and old, being murdered or assaulted in the streets. This month has seen dozens of shootings and stabbings across the city. New Yorkers are being attacked on the subway commuting to work and children are being shot at dismissal. The current systems in place are not protecting citizens.
We need to protect our schools, protect our subways, and protect our streets.
The city is under siege. Children are dying. This month has seen the loss of life of bright children who had their whole lives in front of them. Angellyh Yambo and Kade Lewin were victims of the incessant gun violence that plagues our city.
It’s time to put the interests of children, families, and New Yorkers first. Mayor Eric Adams needs to increase the anti-gun and anti-gang units as well as put more police on the streets and in the subways. The streets are red with the blood of children and New Yorkers.
