Brooklyn Borough Deputy President Diana Richardson Fired

Brooklyn Borough Deputy President Diana Richardson was terminated from her role, serving until October 17th. Richardson was fired for several instances of misconduct that were reported by her colleagues.

One of the main reasons Richardson was let go by her superior, Borough President Antonio Reynoso, was for creating a toxic work environment. According to the NYPost, she addressed staffers in an inappropriate manner and failed to communicate via e-mail.

The relationship between Richardson and other staffers broke down so much, she was forced to work from home. It is alleged that Richardson almost came to blows with Camara Jackson, head of the anti-violence program Elite Learners. The women had to be separated. Richardson is also alleged to have a bottle of Absolut Vodka in her office.  According to Daily News, when she first occupied her office, she lit sage as part of a cleansing ceremony, which resulted in the fire alarms in the building going off.

Still on the News…

“After a series of conversations, Ms. Diana Richardson will no longer serve at Brooklyn Borough Hall as of October 17, 2022,” said Stephanie Guzman, the borough president’s spokesperson in a statement. “We wish her the best of luck in her future endeavors as she continues to help communities grow and thrive.”

Richardson was formerly an elected Assemblywoman in Crown Heights before she left that office to serve as the Deputy President of Brooklyn Borough. This move was largely seen as payment for the role she played in getting Reynoso elected as Borough President.

She has a history of violent behavior. In 2018, she allegedly threw a serious temper tantrum, verbally attacking Assembly Speaker Carl Heastie during a meeting. In the same year, she faced accusations of anti-Semitism after she made the suggestion during a meeting that her district was being gentrified by Jewish people.
