The NYPD has reported that a 14-year-old boy has died after being stabbed in a Harlem subway station on Saturday, July 9th, in the afternoon.
Around 3 p.m. in Hamilton Heights, Manhattan, the teenage boy was allegedly stabbed in the abdomen on a platform for a northbound 1 train at the 137th Street-City College MTA station. Police were called in to respond to a “crime in progress.” Upon arriving at the scene, officers found the injured teenager and he was sent to Mouth Sinai Hospital, where he was declared dead.
Witnesses on the train platform said they saw the teenagers brawling when one reached for a knife.
The victim was identified as Reyes by NYPD on Sunday. According to neighbors who spoke to The Post, his family had only recently moved into their Yonkers home.

Police say that Reyes of Yonkers and the suspect got into a street-level fight on Saturday around 3 p.m. that led into the 137th Street/City College subway station. They both had an ongoing feud, sources said. It wasn’t immediately clear what it was about.
According to sources, Reyes was shoved by the other boy onto the tracks. According to police sources, after being stabbed, he attempted to flee but passed out on the stairs of the subway station.
According to the authorities, they discovered Reyes bleeding from the stomach, and the teen was taken to a nearby hospital where he was later declared dead.
In a news conference regarding the incident, NYPD Transit Chief Jason Wilcox released a few details about the situation and the ongoing investigation. Wilcox announced that a person of interest has been taken into custody.
The suspect, according to Wilcox, suffered injuries to the back and abdomen but was taken to the hospital to receive treatment and is in stable condition. At the news conference, Wilcox said, “The cause of those wounds and his role in the incident remains part of an ongoing investigation.”
Richard Davey, MTA Transit President, described the occurrence as “senseless and terrible” and he stated that his organization is working with the NYPD on this investigation.

After announcing the expansion of the Saturday Night Light program, whose goal is to keep NYC youths safe by giving them activities to participate in during the evenings, Mayor Eric Adams promised to find the offender.
The stabbing, Mayor Adams says, “truly shows why we need to keep the lights on in schools like this so our children can have a safe atmosphere,” the mayor continued.
Mayor Adams and top NYPD officials were promoting an expansion of the city’s Saturday Night Lights program around the same time as the horrific daylight stabbing.
Adams said on Saturday that the program “is about giving young people another choice and keeping our city safe when crimes are most likely to be committed.”
Subway service in the area has been severely impacted by this investigation. For northbound 1 trains, the 96th Street station will be the last stop. The 137th Street-City College station will be the last stop on some southbound 1 trains. New Yorkers can expect the 1 train to run with delays in both directions until the crime scene is cleaned and the investigation is over.
Adams has revealed that the NYPD has started sending cops out on solo patrol in the subway system to cover more ground—over the objections of the police union.
